Authorities in Neosho County are looking for the driver of a pickup truck involved in a Friday night hit-and-run accident on a county road.
The accident happened on 160th Road southeast of Chanute, about 7 miles from US-169. Neosho County Sheriff’s Deputy 35-year-old Cierra Riggs of Galesburg was in her patrol truck, parked on the eastbound shoulder of 160th Road when an unknown pickup approached. The driver went left-of-center and struck the Deputy’s patrol truck head-on. The vehicle then fled the scene, traveling westbound toward US-169. Deputy Riggs was taken to Neosho Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. She has since returned to duty.
