A suspect is in custody following a shooting in southwest Missouri earlier this week.

Authorities in Vernon County, Missouri , responded on Monday to reports of shots fired in the City of Montevallo, about 14 miles southeast of Nevada. When Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies arrived on the scene, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, The man identified the shooter as 65-year-old Johnny Gransbury of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Witnesses say the victim asked to borrow a chainsaw and gas money from Gransbury who denied the request prior to the shooting.

Gransbury was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail in Nevada, where he is being held without bond on felony charges of Armed Criminal Action, Assault and Unlawful Use of Weapon.
