A minimum-custody resident of the Wichita Work Release Facility is back in custody following a brief escape.
The Kansas Department of Corrections reports that 45-year-old Alex Emillano Jaramillo was placed briefly on escape status on Christmas Eve after he did not return to the Wichita facility from his night job the previous evening. Jaramillo was taken into custody yesterday morning, after surrendering to authorities at a local hospital. He was arrested without incident.
KDOC records show Jaramillo was set to be released on January 18, after serving time for violating his parole. His criminal history shows burglary, drug possession, driving with a suspended license, and fleeing law enforcement. He now faces the possibility of an escape from custody charge which could add an additional two to three years to his sentence.
