Two southeast Kansas groups are among those set to receive funding from the State to boost economic development.
The funding comes through the Kansas Office of Rural Prosperity in the form of Strategic Economic Expansion and Development grants. One area recipient is Woodson County Revitalization, which will receive just under $15,000 to create a system for Yates Center and the historic town square that reduces logistical challenges of sourcing and integrating adequate equipment, enhance capacity and quality of event sound.
The Madison Public Library in Greenwood County was awarded a $25,000 grant to cover the costs of renovating and updating library facilities.
Funding for the grants is provided through the Technology Enabled Fiduciary Financial Institutions or TEFFI Development and Expansion Fund. The TEFFI Act was enacted in 2021 through bipartisan legislation to promote economic development throughout the state.
The grant announcement was made by Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland on Monday at an event in Yates Center.
