The driver who collidied with an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper's vehicle on I-40 Monday afternoon has died.
The accident happened around 12:30 on Monday afternoon as O-H-P Trooper Blades was sitting in his cruiser with emergency lights activated on westbound I-40 at Choctaw Road in Oklahoma City. The trooper was blocking the outside lane for a disabled semi as it was loaded onto a wrecker.
An F-250 truck hit the trooper’s patrol unit from behind, while the trooper was inside. The trooper was rushed to the hospital in stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon. The trooper was released from the hospital on Monday evening.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
