Three are arrested in Parsons in separate incidents over the weekend.
Yesterday, Parsons Police officers were called to a domestic disturbance in the 2200 block of Belmont Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a woman and her child outside the residence. During the investigation, a man inside the home became confrontational and resisted officers as they attempted to detain him. Police say the suspect repeatedly reached toward his pocket, where officers later recovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun. The man, identified as Tyler Powell, was taken into custody. Charges submitted for review include domestic battery, child endangerment, multiple counts involving law enforcement officers and assault.
Earlier yesterday, officers responded to reports of a man damaging homes with a brick in the 3100 block of Southern Avenue after fleeing from a care facility. Officers used a Taser to stop the suspect after he refused commands and posed a danger to the public. After additional damage reports and concerns for public safety, the suspect was arrested and taken to the Labette County Jail. Charges include aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and interference with law enforcement.
On Friday, officers investigated a theft after a citizen reported seeing a man drop a donation box while running through a field near Queens Road. The box was later confirmed stolen from a local hotel. Through surveillance review and community tips, the suspect was identified and arrested the same day. Charges include aggravated burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and interference with law enforcement.
