Local firefighters respond to a structure fire in Independence.

 

Sautrday morning just after 9:30, Independence firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of 12th street to a report of a structure fire. 

 

Upon arrival, units found a single-story house with heavy fire on the front porch extending into the home. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack and successfully extinguished the fire.

 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Independence Fire Department in cooperation with the Independence Police Department.

 

The Independence Fire Department was assisted by Independence Rural Fire, Dearing Fire, and the Cherryvale City and Rural Fire Departments.
