The Joplin Police Department is currently on scene of an officer involved shooting.
Preliminary information says the officer tried to pull a suspect over on a possible DUI charge near 50th and Main Street in south Joplin. The suspect then fled toward the Falls area at speeds of almost 100 miles per hour, then turning back and heading once again toward 50th and Main. Police officials say the suspect rammed an officer's vehicle, then a shot was fired by the officer.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to a Joplin hospital.
The names of the officer and suspect have not been released.
