The Montgomery County Commission approves a new monitoring system for use at the county jail.
At this week's commission meeting, Montgomery County Jail Administrator Chad Dunham explained the benefits of the Guardian R-F-I-D program. Dunham told commissioners that the system would help with tracking inmates, understanding their medical needs, and ensuring routine checks are completed and recorded. He says the system can be installed at no cost to taxpayers.
Data entered into the program goes to a web-based system that can be kept for a specified amount of time. Dunham says the system can also be used to record interactions with inmates, which is especially important in the case of threats or violence.
Commissioners approved the purchase of the system on a unanimous vote.
