The Altamont City Council discusses the possible plans for US-160 along with insurance options for City employees at its most recent meeting.
The Kansas Department of Transportation held an informational meeting in Altamont last week to get input on the proposed project for US-160. Altamont City Administrator LeeAnn Myers attended the meeting on behalf of the City. Meyers says KDOT is still in the information gathering stage of the project.
KDOT is considering several changes to the stretch of US-160 from Altamont to US-169, with the possibility of adding shoulders, widening driving lanes, and removing curves. Myers says the state agency’s plans are still flexible when it comes to what the final highway will look like.
In other business, council members heard on update on options for health insurance for City employees and also heard input from several employees who were in attendance. The next Altamont City Council meeting will be on December 29.
