A house fire in northeast Oklahoma last Thursday leaves two people dead.

 

Fire crews arrived on the scene around 2pm Thursday afternoon to find the residence in the 8000 block of South 590th Road in Commerce fully engulfed in flames. Two people lost their lives in the blaze. The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Nikki Tipton and 72-year-old Benny Green. Both were reportedly in the upstairs of the residence when the fire broke out. Two other occupants were able to safely escape the home.

 

Authorities believe the fire started in the chimney system or in the chimney flue.

 

The incident remains under investigation.
