Coffeyville's Jake Long and Andrew Ward Win World Championship in Las Vegas

Coffeyville’s native son Jake Long and his team roping partner Andrew Ward bring home a World Championship in the National Finals Rodeo.

Long and Ward came away champions over the weekend in Las Vegas. The week saw a difficult battle for the pair amongst the world’s best after having dropped to 6th in the standings early in the competition. Heading into the 10th round, Long and Ward would have to be in top form to win and then marked a 3.9 second run. The duo would finish with an aggregate time of 44.0 seconds, a full 5.7 seconds ahead of second place.

Long says winning the world championship is an indescribable feeling.

Montgomery County Commissioner Mike Cordray and Coffeyville Chambers Candi Westbrook and Wyatt Starnes say it's great to see someone with Coffeyville ties achieve greatness at this level.

It was Ward's sixth trip to the National Finals Rodeo and his first world championship, and Long's 15th NFR appearance and his first gold buckle.
