Elk County Emergency Management and Elk County Rural Fire receives a donation to purchase some much needed equipment.

 

The funding comes from a grant from the Kansas Pipeline Association and will allow the Rural Fire Department to purchase two new portable gas meters. The meters play an important role in fighting fires because they are used to detect hazardous atmospheres during emergency responses. The meters are an essential tool for firefighters because they are used to detect flammable gases and vapors. They help first responders determine whether an environment is safe to enter and whether ignition sources must be controlled.

 

The donation will help keep firefighters and victims safe during emergencies.
