The Neodesha City Commission approves the interlocal agreement with Labette Health.

 

After serious consideration and some contentious meetings with Wilson County, Neodesha signs an agreement with Labette Health for EMS services. Wilson County had wanted the City to consider making a deal with Fredonia EMS, but city officials stated they had only received a brief outline from that group while Labette offered a complete plan. Commissioner Ed Truelove says all they got from Fredonia was a set of bullet points.

 

Commissioner Duane Banzet had close ties to the Neodesha Fire Department and says the decision is heartbreaking for him.

 

Banzet added that he understand the commission must do what is in the best financial interests of the City. The Commission approved the agreement on a 2-0 vote. Commissioner Banzet abstained from the vote.
