The Independence City Commission will meet tonight in what will be its final meeting of the year.
The condemnation of dangerous and unsafe structures will be the primary topic of discussion at tonight's meeting. Among the buildings to be considered for condemnation is the Old Arco Building at 10th and Myrtle. A public hearing will be held to determine if the City will move forward in the process, but commissioners are expected to adjourn the public hearing on the structure until June. Public hearings will also likely be scheduled for February 26th for twelve other properties.
The Commission will also be asked to approve a mill and overlay project for a runway at the Independence Airport.
Tonight's meeting begins at 5:30 in the Commission Room at the Independence City Hall. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the City's website.
