The Pride of Caney will look a little different during competitions and marching season next year, as the purchase of new uniforms were approved Monday during the regular session meeting of USD-436. The meeting was held at the new weight room at the high school.
Superintendent Blake Vargas says the uniforms will have the school's primary colors, red and blue, with a little white trim and silvers buttons, instead of gold. An example uniform will be made and presented to the board for final approval, with the new uniforms in the hands of students by next year.
The new weight room was created by renovating space vacated by the ag and tech departments when they moved to CV West. Strength and conditoning coach Tell Wyrick says the room is already showing its benefits, with room to grow as well.
Vargas says he's excited to have USD-436 families see the payoff of many years of hard work.
A presentation was also heard from the Kansas Historical Society concerning Caney Memorial Stadium. We'll have more information on the possibilities of tax credits for renovations or refurbishing of the stadium later this week on our KGGF family of stations.
