A small plane makes an emergency landing in Marion County.

The incident occurred around 2pm Tuesday near the City of Peabody, According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the plane experienced engine failure during the flight and the pilot was forced to land the aircraft. The plane was carrying one passenger, described as an individual who had expressed interest in obtaining a pilot's license.

The plane landed in an open field. No one was injured and there was no damage to the plane or to the property. The cause of the emergency is under investigation by the FAA and the NTSB.
