Pilot Killed in Helicopter Crash in Mayes County

 

An Idaho man is dead following a helicopter crash on Friday in Mayes County, OK.

 

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Emanuele Tsikoudas of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was killed on Friday morning after the helicopter he was piloting crashed near the Neosho River. Authorities say the aircraft took off from the Mid-America Industrial Park Airport in Pryor just before 8am to assist GRDA with line work in the Sportsmen Acres area. Witnesses say the helicopter was hovering normally and then suddenly flipped and dove nose-first into the ground. The pilot was the only person in the copter and was the only person injured in the crash.

 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
