The Nowata City Commissioners approves a purchase requisition for a gear box and clarifier at the water plant.

The move came at this week's meeting. The plant clrifier is a large tank that uses gravity to remove suspended solids from water and wastewater. The process involves the slow movement of water through the tank, allowing heavier particles to settle at the bottom as sludge, while cleaner water moves to the next stage. Water Plant Operator Jerry Jackson says the plant's current clarifier has been having some problems.

 Clarifiers are essential for both preliminary and secondary treatment, as they separate solid waste before biological treatment and remove the biomass produced during secondary treatment. The clarifier will be purchased through IBT Industrial Solutions for approximately $11,500.
