The Montgomery County Commission approves a resolution to make purchasing equipment less burdensome for Rural Fire.
Rural Fire Chief Michael Smith appeared before the commission last week to request the resolution that would permit purchases from approved websites without prior approval from the commission. County Administrator Jonathan Booe says he and Smith discussed the time-sensitive nature of such purchases.
The new resolution provides guidelines for making purchases, including the source of the funding and spending limits for types of equipment. Booe says Rural Fire will still be required to inform commissioners of their purchases.
The resolution was approved on a 2-0 vote. Commmissioner Phil Clubine was absent from Monday's meeting.
