KDOT Open House for US-160 Improvements Next Week in Altamont

The Kansas Department of Transportation will hold an open house in Altamont on proposed improvements to US-160 in Labette and Montgomery Counties.

There will be no formal presentation at the event, but citizens will be able to view project exhibits to learn more about the proposals. Project staff will also be on hand to answer any questions. The proposed improvements to US-160 are still in the discovery phase. This is the point in the project where planners gather essential information to help determine where and what should be built, why it should be done and whether or not the project is viable. None of the proposed projects are currently funded for design or construction. Public input received during the open house will help KDOT determine what will be done.

The project's goal is to improve US-160 from Gartner Avenue in Altamont, west to US-169. Possible improvements include widening the driving lanes, improving existing curves, and adding shoulders.

The open house will be held at the Altamont City Park Building and Community Center on Thursday, December 11, from 5 to 7 pm.
