State of Kansas Gets Into Christmas Spirit

The State of Kansas will officially start getting into the Christmas spirit today.

Governor Laura Kelly will light the Kansas Statehouse Christmas tree this morning at 10am in an official lighting ceremony. The annual tree-lighting ceremony has become a traditional feature of the holiday season in Kansas. Each year, the tree is placed and decorated by volunteers, with last year's tree colors of rose and gold chosen by Governor Kelly. The ceremony will take place in the rotunda of the Kansas Capitol building in Topeka and the governor is expected to deliver brief remarks.

The tree will remain up through the Christmas season and can be viewed by citizens during normal visiting hours.
