A discussion item during last night's regular session meeting will lead to a special session of the Caney City Council tonight to approve an SRF loan for the water connection to the city of Coffeyville.
The most talked about option of three is the 20-year loan for $4.3 million at an interest rate of 3.1%. The first payment of the loan would not be due until 2029, and city officials say that time would be spent finding more state and federal grant funding to offset the cost of the project, as well as finding loans with lower interest rates to reduce costs associated with the loan.
Tonight's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 at the east entrance of City Hall, 100 West 4th Avenue in Caney.
