A four-year-old Afton girl dies after being shot in the chest with a handgun.

 

 According to Afton Police Chief Earnie Shelby, officials believe the shooting was accidental, but the incident is under investigation.

 

 Because of weather conditions, the girl had to be taken to a Miami hospital instead of the use of a life flight helicopter.

 

 Afton Superintendent Jay Bowen says school and community counselors will be available to Afton students all week.
