Coffeyville Included in State-Wide Trend of Decreasing Violent Crime

Violent crimes rates across the state of Kansas fell in 2024 and the City of Coffeyville shows a similar trend.

Coffeyville Police Chief Kwin Bromley says there are several reason behind the drop in crime rates.

The overall crime rate in Kansas for 2024 fell 7% from 2023. Murders dropped by 25% and burglaries fell by nearly 19%. Bromley says crime rates are ranked from highest to lowest, noting that all cities have improved in the past year.

Bromley adds that there are some simple tips people can follow to avoid crime this holiday season. Those include securing your home and vehicle by locking doors and windows, ensure that dark areas and entrances have outdoor lights that are turned on after dark or are activated by sensors, and keep trees and shrubbery trimmed so they do not conceal doors and windows.
