The City of Humboldt is getting some help in repairing their water system from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
KDHE is providing nearly $13 million in loans to help the city revitalize its water system, including the rehabilitation of the city water treatment plant, the recoating of three storage tanks, upgrades to the distribution system, and the installation of new meters with an automated reading system.
Completion of the project will help ensure safe drinking water for the long-term future for the City's 964 water customers.
The financing was made possible through KDHE with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, using the Kansas Public Water Supply Loan Fund. Since 1997, the Fund has provided more than $1.5 billion to Kansas municipalities to finance drinking water infrastructure.
