An Iola woman is dead following a Sunday evening crash.

 

The three-vehicle accident occurred around 6pm Sunday night on Old US-169 just south of Iola.

 

According to the Allen County Sheriff's Office, a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by 76-year-old Deana Foster was northbound on the highway when it went left-of-center and side-swiped a southbound Jeep Wrangler. The Silverado continued and then struck a 2024 Honda HR-V. This second collision caused the Silverado to leave the roadway and overturn, trapping Foster inside the vehicle.

 

EMS was able to extract Foster from the truck and transport her to a nearby hospital. She was later transferred to a hospital in Kansas City, where she succumbed to her injuries.

 

The driver of the Jeep was uninjured in the crash while the driver of the Honda refused medical treatment at the scene.
