One is dead in a fatality crash in Wilson County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened just before 1:00am, about 10 miles northwest of Fredonia.

Early this morning a 2023 Ram Promaster van, driven by 32-year-old Bradley Plec of Graniteville, South Carolina, was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line into the eastbound lane. An eastbound 2016 Volvo semi, driven by 50-year-old Sergiu Ionas of Morton Grove, Illinois, moved toward the shoulder and braked, but the vehicles collided head-on near the eastbound shoulder.

Plec was ejected and died at the scene. The report notes it is unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt. Ionas was transported to Fredonia Regional Hospital with possible injuries after complaining of pain. He was wearing a seatbelt.
