The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night in Basehor.
Deputies in from the Leavenworht County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of threats against an individual around 10:20 Friday night. The victim descibe the suspect's vehicle as a white Honda SUV. The SUV was soon located nearby. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. As deputies pursued the Honda, multiple shot were fired from the vehicle. The chase ended when the suspect's vehilce collided with another car. A male passenger then exited the vehicle and fired on deputies again before fleeing on foot. The female driver identified as 29-year-old Mariah Huggins of Kansas City, Kansas, was taken into custody at the scene.
The male suspect continued to flee, breaking into a nearby residence, before he was found hiding in a truck bed and arrested. He has been identified as 33-year-old Andrew Amundson of Leavenworth. Both suspects have been booked into the Leavenwiorth County Jail on outstanding warrants. Additional charges stemming from this incident are expected.
One Leavenworth County Sheriff's deputy was injured in the chase when he crashed his patrol cruiser. That deputy was treated for his injuries and released.
