The Altamont City Council closes a bridge south of the City.

The closure of the bridge located on Meade Road between 13,000 Road and US-160 occurred after an inspection report of the bridge was released by the Kansas Department of Transportation. According to KDOT, the bridge was originally built in 1910 and was found to be structurally deficient.

The bridge is to remain closed until further notice. Drivers in the area are asked to plan an alternate route.
