A weekend fire destroys a family-owned hardware store in Eureka.

Reports of a fire at S&L Hardware at 1518 East River Street in Eureka came in just before 4pm on Saturday afternoon. Fire crews from the Eureka Fire Department arrived on the scene to find the structure fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke coming from the building. The blaze was brought under control and extinguished but there was considerable damage to the building. The State Fire Marshal believes the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

Assisting on the call were the Greenwood County Fire Department, Greenwood County Sheriff's Office, Greenwood County EMS, Evergy, Atmos, and the American Red Cross.
