Drivers on US-75 in Osage County, Kansas, experienced some disruptions to travel yesterday afternoon when construction equipment hit an overpass.

Authorities say the an excavator was being hauled on a trailer when the boom arm struck the overpass of South Merrill Road, near Melvern Lake, about 25 miles southwest of Ottawa. The boom went through the overpass, piercing the roadway above. Traffic on US-75 was limited to one lane of traffic until the accident could be cleared. The bridge on South Merrill Road remains closed.
