Three Deputies, One KHP Trooper Injured During Domestic Incident in Osage County

 

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday morning in Osage County, Kansas, just north of the City of Carbondale, that left one suspect deceased and multiple officers injured..

 

Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol Colonel Erik Smith says four law enforcement officers were injured and the suspect was killed in the incident.

 

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Stephen M. McMillan. McMillan’s 77-year-old grandfather was also injured in the gunfire. Two of the deputies underwent surgery and are reported in good condition, while the third was treated and discharged from the hospital. The KHP Trooper and McMillan’s grandfather are both expected to make a full recovery.

 

The KBI is investigating the shooting as it does in all officer-involved shootings.
