A leak of anhydrous ammonia at the Holiday Inn Express in Weatherford, Oklahoma, leaves multiple people hospitalized.

The leak occurred around 10pm on Wednesday night night at the Holiday Inn Express at 1311 East Main Street in Weatherford, a city located about 70 miles west of Oklahoma City. Thirty-four patients were taken to Weatherford Regional Hospital, with five transferred to Oklahoma City hospitals for a higher level of care. Dozens more were treated at three on-site treatment facilities. Reports indicate 14 officers were exposed to the gas with five sustaining chemical burns to their airways.

Responding emergency crews say the leak originated from a tanker truck parked behind the hotel. The public has been asked to avoid the area around the hotel until clean up can be completed.
