Pittsburg High School was placed under full lockdown for an hour yesterday following what turned out to be an erroneous report of a weapon on campus.
A release from USD 250 stated that the lockdown began around 3:45pm after reports of a person outside the school building with a weapon. The report came near the end of the school day and several busses with students had already left campus. Those that remained were stopped and the students were moved to a lockdown location inside the school. Pittsburg Police then arrived and began a search of both the interior and exterior of the building. The reported individual was identified as a student and was confirmed not to be in possession of a weapon.
The lockdown was lifted at 4:25pm.
