Montgomery County Changes Tuesday Meeting Time Back to 9am

The Montgomery County Commission will return to holding Tuesday meetings following a Monday holiday in the morning instead of the evening.

County Administrator Jonathan Booe says the move was originally made due to requests by citizens to hold evening meetings to make it easier for those who work to attend.

For the past year, the commission has held such Tuesday meetings at 6pm. However, the change resulted in only two more people attending commission meetings. Commissioner Mike Cordray says he had hopes that more citizens would attend.

Commissioner Phil Clubine adds that the evening meetings meant extending the workday for county employees.

Commissioners unanimously approved moving the start time of Tuesday meetings back to 9am.

In other business, the commission also approved a two-year contract extension for County Administrator Jonathan Booe.
