Labette County to Provide Funding for Mental Health Services in Jail

The Labette County Commissioners vote to approve funding for mental health services for the county jail.

The Labette Center for Mental Health Services has been providing some services without funding but would like to expand their services. Executive Director Matt Atteberry says they are asking for $40,000.  Atteberry says a very significant number of inmates have issues with substance abuse, mental illness or both.

The funding will come from the money received from the opiod settlements. The commission unanimously approved the funding, which will begin on December 1st.
