Governor Laura Kelly will be in Pittsburg tonight as she finishes off her People’s Budget listening tour. Kelly began the tour on October 9 in Salina, with the purpose of hearing directly from Kansans about citizen priorities for the budget ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
Each January, Governor Kelly presents a balanced budget proposal to the Kansas Legislature that outlines investments in education, health care, infrastructure, public safety, and other key areas. This past year, the Kansas Legislature disregarded Governor Kelly’s budget proposal, opting to craft its own budget. The 2026 session begins on January 12.
Kelly will speak tonight at the Frisco Event Center at 6pm. In partnership with the Kansas Food Bank and Harvesters, Governor Kelly is encouraging Kansans attending the town hall events to bring non-perishable, non-glass food items to give back to local communities.
Area residents who wish to attend must RSVP to the event. A form to RSVP can be found here.
