There will be lots of Veterans' Day events tomorrow in Independence.

 

One of the major events will happen at the Veterans Freedom Square at Riverside Park. Independence Chamber President Lisa Wilson says the Memorial Presentations will begin at 10:30am with the reading of the names represented at the Veterans' Memorial.

 

Wilson says the event will continue with other presentations, including recognition of the winners of the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen Essay Contest.

 

Following the ceremony, there will be an Honor Walk to mark the opening of the Verdigris Vista Trail at the park.

 

Events kick off tomorrow morning with a Veterans' Appreciation Breakfact at 7am at VFW Post 1186. There will also be a car show in the Auto Zone parking lot from noon to 1:30, a free community lunch at the VFW at 11am. Attendees can also enjoy the Military Exhibit at the Independence Historical Museum. The day of events will be capped off with the Veterans' Day Parade at 2pm.
