The City of Coffeyville Public Works Department continues to make progress on the current project at Woodland Avenue and Buckeye.
When the City recently completed the Rails-to-Trails path in the area, the City became aware that the trail was very close to the roadway. To help protect walkers, cyclists, and drivers, the roadway was moved five feet to the north, and new curb and gutter were installed along the section. The next step in the project is to install a series of short, sturdy posts known as bollards along the new curb line. The bollards will create a safe separation between vehicles and trail users, while helping to manage vehicle traffic and prevent accidental vehicle access to the trail.
The purpose of the improvements is to make the trail safer and more user-friendly.
The project is funded through a Community Development Block grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce with a 50% match from the City of Coffeyville.
