South Coffeyville Students Raising Money to Tell Story of Unsung Hero

Students from South Coffeyville High School want to tell the story of an unsung hero, and they are looking for the public's help to accomplish their goal.

Students are planning to participate in the Discovery Award Contest through the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes in Fort Scott. High School History Teacher Pam Starrett says the students plan to interview one of the last two living Black Angels.

Starrett says they are raising money to send four students and two adults to New York City to interview Virginia Allen and tell her story.

Students have put together a variety of fundraisers for the trip, and tonight, there will be a gift card raffle drawing at the home football game. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Anyone with questions can call 918-915-1199
