Kansas Governor Laura Kelly orders flags throuhg out the state to be flown at half-staff starting immediately in honor of the passing of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
The flags are to remain at half-staff through sundown on the day of his internment.
Vice President Cheney was the 46th Vice President of the United States and served in the role from 2001-2009. He previously served as White House Chief of Staff to President Ford, represented Wyoming’s at-large congressional district for a decade, and was the Secretary of Defense in President George H.W. Bush’s administration.
Cheney passed away on Monday from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. He was 84.
