Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announces priorities for the Kansas Rural Health Transformation Plan.
The plan has been submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as part of the state's application for the $50 billion federal Rural Health Transformation Program. Through this program, Kansas could receive significant federal funding to improve the health and sustainability of Kansas rural communities.
The goals outlined in the plan include promoting preventative healthcare, attracting and retaining providers and skilled healthcare workers, increasing access, and improving the quality of care for rural Kansans while lowering costs.
If awarded, the plan will be implemented through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Funding awards are expected to be announced on December 31.
