Cherryvale Passes Several New Ordinances: Animals, Generators, RVs

Several ordinances are passed at this week's Cherryvale City Council Meeting.

The first adjusts the wording of the existing animal control ordinance to deal with nuisance offenders. Code Enforcement and Animal Control Officer Nicole Ecret says this will impact those who have multiple violations.

Ecret says something has to change to decrease the number of animals at large.

The Council also approved an ordinance regarding the temporary use of generators, limiting the time they can be on to line up with the current noise ordinance in the city, which is between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. An ordinance on RVs was also passed that requires them to be parked on a driveway and not in a front or side yard. RVs must be parked perpendicular to the street without blocking the sidewalk. RVs can be temporarily parked for up to 72 hours for loading, although unattached trailers can't be left on a city street for more than 24 hours. The Council also discussed a proposed nudity ordinance at length, but decided to table the matter until the next meeting.
