Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is currently on her statewide “The People's Budget” listening tour.
For the remaining stops on ther tour, Kelly is also including a food drive. The governor is encouraging Kansans attending the town hall events to bring non-perishable, non-glass food items to give back to local communities and support local food banks. The Kelly administration has partnered with the Kansas Food Bank and Harvesters: The Community Food Network in order to assist Kansans in need.
Food banks currently have the highest need for canned protein and infant formula. Other shelf stable items in need include canned fruits and vegetables, dried fruit and beans, whole grain pasta, and brown rice.
Kelly began her listening your in Salina on October 9th. Her next stops will be on Wednesday in Hays and Garden City. She will make a stop in southeast Kansas on November 10th in Pittsburg.
