One person is injured in a weekend accident in Cherokee County.
65-year-old Mark Barnes of Weir sustained minor injuries on Friday morning when his 2006 GMC Sierra 250 pick up was struck by another vehicle on US-400 about three miles east of the City of Cherokee. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the other driver 52-year-old Larry Hammer of Independence failed to yield at a stop sign on Northeast 30th Road and collided with Barnes’ truck. Hammer was uninjured in the crash.
