Another Neewollah is in the books with thousands of spectators packing downtown Independence for the Grand Parade on Saturday morning.
The Independence High School marching band led the Grand Parade of 126 entries, although some did drop out due to the weather. The marching band festival also went on as planned though it moved from Riverside Park to Independence High School because of the near constant rain. Both Independence and Field Kindley bands took home 1 ratings for their field shows, with Field Kindley also taking home honors for Outstanding Percussion, Outstanding Color Guard, and Best in Class for their division.
Bands from Caney, Neodesha, Fort Scott, Chanute, and Labette County High Schools also competed, earning 2 ratings, while Cherryvale received a 2 rating for the parade.
