The Independence High School band was one of the first acts on the bandstand as Neewollah festivities got into full swing yesterday. Residents and visitors alike packed Penn Avenue to sample their favorites Neewollah food from food trucks and to let the kids enjoy some free fun in the inflatables. The carnival midway also opened last night. The streets were packed with festival goers for the first night of downtown activities.
The fun continues tonight with the Doodah Parade at 6pm. The Doodah Parade is the adult only event of Neewollah. It offers those who are still kids at heart a chance to celebrate in their own special way. King and Queen Doo Dah Barry and Lori Wesselowski will preside over the parade of rowdies that is liberally sprinkled with a variety of adults in costume. Prizes will be awarded for Best Individual and Best Group costumes. Those who want to take part in the costume contest should meet at 5:15 in front of Memorial Hall for judging.
Bandstand musical acts begin at 6:30 and the carnival midway will be open from 5 to 10pm.
