Drivers in the Caney area can expect some good news soon.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says the Cheyenne River bridge just north of the US-166/-US-75 junction near Caney is due to reopen to two lanes of traffic soon. The bridge has been under construction since October 2024 as crews replaced the existing structure. One lane of the bridge has remained open during the replacement project. The $3.8 million project was constructed by Bridges, Inc, of Newton.
