There are some changes this year to street closures in downtown Independence due to Neewollah.

For the remainder of the week in Independence, the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of Penn Avenue will be closed. In past, the downtown area has remained open for a limited time once the food trucks opened, but safety concerns have prompted the City to close the area to all traffic through Saturday. The east alley in the 100 block of north Penn will temporarily become one-way, with traffic flowing north from Main to Myrtle to allow for continued access to the Community National Bank drive-thru.
